ABOUT GEORGETOWN PRC
We were organized in March of 1994 with 34 families. The members of our church family represent various walks of life and that which unites us is our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, a strong commitment to God’s Word, and the belief that we are saved by sovereign grace alone. At the present time we number around 196 families or 550 souls.
ABOUT THE PROTESTANT REFORMED DENOMINATION
The content of our common faith is that which is described in the name of our congregation. We stand in the heritage of the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century and Reformed indicates that we consciously strive to be a part of the Reformation.
We confess the truths of Calvinism, namely the sovereignty of God’s grace to save His people in the precious blood of Christ. Protestant indicates our increasing effort to be faithful to God and His Word in a sinful world.
Our congregation belongs to the federation of the Protestant Reformed Churches in America. We believe in the historic Christian faith as summarized in these three creeds:

We believe these creeds accurately proclaim the gospel of God revealed in the Bible.
HOW WE WORSHIP...
GOD IS WORTHY
of all praise (Psalm 95:6). He commands everyone to worship Him (Psalm 96:9). Therefore, we gather together to render to Him the praise of our hearts and to be instructed in His Word. We worship out of love and thankfulness for the great gift of salvation in His Son.
WE WORSHIP AS HE HAS COMMANDED IN THE BIBLE
(Psalm 29:2). We believe Sunday is a day set apart from all other days. On this day we gather together twice in formal, public worship. These services are conducted with reverence, in the historical Reformed way, which reflects our consciousness of being in the presence of the Almighty God. Central in every service is the preaching of God’s Word. The preaching is the chief means by which God gives grace to His people, and calls us to constant repentance and faith in Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 1:18-21).
OUR CHILDREN WORSHIP GOD WITH US
Jesus blesses the children of the parents who bring them to Him (Mark 10:13-16). Central to the calling to instruct our children in the fear of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4) is to have them with us under the preaching. The Holy Spirit uses the pure preaching of God’s Word to save us and our children. Thus God strengthens us in His grace and knowledge (II Peter 3:18).
WE BELIEVE...
THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD
inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error (II Timothy 3:16). In it, God has revealed Himself to us and tells us all we need to know for salvation. Everything it teaches is to be believed, everything it commands is to be obeyed, and everything it promises is to be trusted (Romans 3:4).
GOD IS A TRIUNE GOD
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). He is the sovereign Lord of heaven and earth. He created the world and all it contains in six, 24 hour days (Exodus 20:11). The ultimate purpose of God’s creation is the revelation of His glory. He rules over all in heaven and on earth, over the Devil and all the angels (I Chronicles 29:11). God providentially sustains His creation and governs it according to His good pleasure.
GOD IS SOVEREIGN IN SALVATION
(Hebrews 12:2). Because God is holy and righteous, He punishes every sin. We, who are born dead in sin and are guilty before God, are saved only by His grace (Ephesians 2:1-8). He has chosen a people from eternity to be saved in the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:4,5). He regenerates our hard hearts through the Holy Spirit (John 3:3-8). He gives us faith to believe the gospel (Ephesians 2:9). He continues this saving work by giving us daily the grace to serve Him in all of our life. He preserves us in our salvation (John 10:27-29).
GOD IS A GOD OF LOVE
and demonstrates it through the death of Christ on the cross (Romans 5:8). By suffering and dying on the cross, Jesus endured the eternal punishment which His people deserved. The Son of God in human flesh paid for the sins of His people, arose from the dead, and now reigns in heaven (Romans 4:25) to be the judge of the living and dead (II Timothy 4:1). Those who believe in Him will dwell with Him forever in heaven; and those who do not believe in Him will suffer God’s just and eternal wrath in hell (Revelation 20:11-15).
